Cooking Classes:
Since 2010 the Multicultural Association of Pictou County has been offering a variety of international cooking classes. Classes have included foods from countries such as India, Germany, Thailand, Indonesia, Korea, China, Japan, England, Ireland, Mexico and more. Cooking class sessions run twice a year and are open to everyone. Cost per person is $10 and pre-registartion is required. School Presentations:
Throughout the year, the Multicultural Association of Pictou County provides cultural presentations to local area schools. Members of the association dress in attire from their individual countries and teach students about a variety of topics including language, culture and food. Students find these presentations both informative and entertaining and often ask many questions to the presenters.
Multicultural Fusion Festival:
The Multicultural Fusion Festival is an annual event hosted by the Multicultural Association of Pictou County which takes place in September. The festival provides an opportunity for newcomers, longstanding residents of the towns and surrounding areas in Pictou County as well as guests to the area to come together and celebrate our growing cultural diversity. The goal of the festival is to foster a welcoming community for all. There will be ethnic food vendors, multicultural market, children's activities, entertainment and a fashion show of traditional clothing from around the world.
